Owston Hosts Third Annual Exhibition (August 04, 2007)

Summer Exhibition at Owston

Now in its third year, the Summer Exhibition in the tiny village of Owston continues to attract a highly diverse collection of paintings and other artwork, reflecting the high calibre of artists in the area.  With this open exhibition, the organisers have targeted local artists, to provide an exhibition opportunity for professionals and talented amateurs.  Now firmly established in the artists’ calendar, this year a larger than ever number of submissions were available for selection - ensuring visitors can expect to see some high quality work.

The theme of ‘Colour and Contrast’ has ensured a good representation of landscape painters but also some strong work in other media.

Painters exhibiting include Alan Oliver, Roger Lancaster, Jan Osbond and Ken Forrest.  As well as the paintings, there is a wide range of other submissions, making for a truly mixed media event.  Ceramics, photographs, jewellery, silk paintings, batik, woodcarvings and needlecraft are all represented.  Also, a rolling slideshow of digital images from digital photo course students in an adjacent room adds a pleasing further dimension to the display.

This is an exhibition of wide appeal, and is open for ten days including the weekends.
